- ADONAI – (literally “my Lord,” the plural form of Adon, that is, “Lord” or “Lordship”).
- Bar Mitzvah – Means, “son of the commandment” when a boy reaches the age of religious maturity, age 13.
- Barucha – Prayers offered on any occasion that calls for praise .
- Brit Milah – Covenant of circumcision (Gen. 17:9-14).
- Kaddish – Praise to Elohim recited in memorial to the departed.
- Magen David – Shield of David: 6-pointed star, used as a symbol of the Israelite People.
- Matzah – Unleavened bread.
- Menorah – Seven-branched lamp stand. (Ex. 25: 1-37).
- Mezuzah – Parchment scroll usually in a metal container attached to the doorpost on the right side of the entrance to a house or room (Deut. 6:9).
- Midrash – Teaching; Hebrew commentary, arranged 200 C.E.
- Mikvah – Ritual bath of purification or immersion.
- Mitzvah – Commandment or good deed.
- Oneg – Hebrew meaning, “delight,” “pleasure,” joy”, used with Shabbat to mean “Joy of the Sabbath.
- Pesach – Passover, (Ex. 12:14-20).
- Rosh HaShanah – Feast of Trumpets (Lev: 23:23-25) also known as the Hebrew New Year, celebrated in Sept. or Oct.
- Ruach HaKodesh – Holy Spirit.
- Shabbat – Sabbath, starts Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.
- Shalom – Peace, used as hello or good-bye”.
- Shavuot – Feast of Weeks/Pentecost, 7 weeks from Passover.
- Siddur – Prayer book which contains prayers, Scripture, order of service.
- Sukkot – Feast of Tabernacles, celebrated in “booths.” (Lev. 23)
- Tanakh – Old Testament or First Covenant and a Hebrew acronym for “Torah”, the “Prophets,” and the “Writings”.
- Tefillin – Leather boxes attached to leather thongs wound around the head or arm, used by very religious Jews during prayer. The box contains portions of the Torah (Deut. 6:8); also called phylacteries.
- The Sh’ma – Jewish affirmation of faith (Deut. 6:4) recited morning and evening by Jews & Messianic Believers.
- TORAH – The 1st Five books of the Old Testament.
- YHVH – The Sacred Name of the Father
- Yom Kippur – Day of Atonement, observed with fasting and prayer (The Most Holiest Sabbath).
